Besides disclosure of financial information, companies listed (“Issuers”) on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (“HKEX”) have “Comply or Explain” reporting requirement on its Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) report.
An Issuer is required to disclose information on:
- the policies, and
- compliance with relevant laws and regulations that have a significant impact on the Issuer
relating to air and greenhouse gas emissions, discharges into water and land, and generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
If the Issuer does not report on one or more of these provisions, it must provide reasons in its ESG report.
HKEX periodically review and update its ESG related listed rules, taking into account recent international climate-related disclosure recommendations. In line with global trend, disclosure requirement is expected to become more stringent going forward.
Waste lead acid batteries (“WLAB”) is a hazardous waste.
